Carey was almost 5'10 tall when she became a leading model. The popularity of her with American designer Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was very high. In 1979 in 1979, the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists elected the father of her Scientist of The Year. Carey's father was a geologist and traveled around the world as part of his career. In her college years she started modeling part-time and attracted the attention from Ford model Agency representatives in New York. The model moved to France in the year 1980, and lived for a short time in Paris and Bordeaux before returning home to New York to continue with her college education and modeling career and was soon appearing on the covers of Vogue, Glamour, etc. In between modeling assignments, she studied the study of literature in New York University. After graduation, in New York she began to pursue acting. Her acting debut was as a character with Robin Williams in the 1986 film "Club Paradise. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing, wind surfing, rock climbing and white water river rafting.
